I have been looking for a proper everyday bag for a while — something that works for the office, does not look out of place on weekends, and does not fall apart after six months. The Stranger in brown ticks all three boxes.
The colour itself is a warm, rich brown — not too dark, not too light — and it works with almost everything. Casual wear, business casual, even a smarter outfit for an evening out. The hand-dyed finish means the tone is not perfectly uniform across the surface, giving it depth and character you simply do not get from synthetic or lower-grade leather. It looks like something that was made with care rather than pressed out of a mould.
The leather quality is immediately noticeable the moment you handle it. It has a solid, substantial feel and carries that natural earthy scent that tells you the material is the genuine article. I have been using it daily for a few weeks now and it has held its shape well — no fraying at the seams, no issues with the zipper, and the hardware remains solid throughout.
The design is clean and unpretentious. No unnecessary straps, buckles, or branding plastered across the front. The strap length adjusts easily and sits comfortably on the shoulder. The side zip pocket is a thoughtful addition — I keep my EZ-Link card and earphones there so I don't have to rummage through the main compartment at every stop.
What I am most looking forward to is how the brown deepens and develops a patina over time. Vachetta leather is known for ageing beautifully with regular use, and I expect this bag will look even better a year from now than it does today.
The packaging was also a nice touch — it arrives in a black gift box with a cotton dust bag included, which makes it feel like a considered product from start to finish.
Overall, a well-made bag at a fair price for the quality you receive. Recommended without hesitation.
